Inclusive Spaces
Hi! I am Mihret Tesfaye, a senior and part of the IRPD Leadership team. My project is centered around inclusivity of neurodivergent students in school events. After conducting interviews and gathering data, I created a prototype with my partner, Arshia Rikhi. This was a Halloween festival that helped provide a space for special education students that they truly enjoyed as well as normalized the inclusion of these students in school wide events.
STEM Engagement
Hi my name is Aruna Venkateswaran, and I am currently a junior in IRPD. My project aims to promote STEM engagement in younger students by bringing fun, hands on, and creative engaging STEM lessons and activities to local elementary school classrooms. I hope to be able to host events in different classrooms, as well as create a website that allows students to engage in fun activities in the comfort of their own surroundings as well.
Slow Release Fertilizers
Hello my name is Praneel Shah and my project is centered around how we can improve slow release fertilizers to both improve plant growth and minimize fertilizer runoff into water systems. In this project I aim to use nanoparticles, a concept mainly used in pharmaceutical drug delivery research, to deliver nutrients to plants in efficiently, just like how an Amazon delivery truck delivers packages to you in the fastest possible way!
Autoimmune Disease Research
I'm Suhani, a sophomore in IRPD, and my project is about finding the genetic overlap between type 1 diabetes and other autoimmune diseases in an effort to create an algorithm to predict the likelihood of onset of type 1 diabetes in individuals based on family medical history.
Strengthening Relationships
Hello my name is Eshika Tiwari and I am currently a junior. A problem challenge that teens and parents face is building a strong relationship. I am particularly interested in this because I have faced this problem of my relationship separating with my parents as I grew up. I am trying to address this issue by hosting these events where both the parent and the student could come to the IRPD room to do arts and crafts with each other. These events will be hosted once a month, I hope that at the end of these events people can have a closer relationship with their parents.
Native Gardening
We’re Amy Zhang & Amy Zheng, current seniors working on a project to encourage urban gardening within the MV community. We’re trying to lower the bar of entry by hosting community events and providing resources, specifically about California's native biodiversity, such as seed libraries and field kits of perennial flowers and produce.

Water Conservation
Hi, I'm Ronith. I am working on a project that will help you decide how much water you need to use on your plant. It includes several factors including the weather, plant type, and soil porosity. My goal is to help you decide how much water you should water your plant with and to prevent the situations of over water and under watering.
Self Confidence
Hi I am Tanay Parikh, a junior at Monta Vista. My project is Optimizing Water Usage using Drone Technology. The impact I want to make is to be able to water the field to get the best possible fields that is not only over water while still retains and enjoyable field. Looking ahead, I see the potential to extend this approach to fertilizer application, further enhancing sustainable agricultural practices.
Humanities Hub
Hi! I’m Sagnik Nag Chowdhury, a junior in IRPD. My project is centered around challenging the non-STEM inequities and a lack of emphasis of humanities related activities on our campus. After numerous user interviews, I found that many believed that there was a large STEM culture on our campus and I hope to challenge this by creating a resource hub for students who hope to start their own non-STEM club and a “Humanities Hub” promoting the wide variety of activities we have on campus!
Virtual Campus Tours
Hi! I’m Lemon and my project this year is working with researchers from Stanford University along with my team—Juyeon, Luna, Subin, Jason and Giljoon— in creating virtual campus tours for Monta Vista. Through this project we aim to help new students familiarize with the school and navigate easily.
Optimizing Water Usage
Hi! I'm Ella Peng, a sophomore in IRPD. My project is about self-confidence and academic achievement. And the main users are EL students. After I did a lot of interviews and going deeper into this topic, I found that people often don't know much about the ELD group and don't know how to help them.
