Optimizing Water and Fertilizer Usage
Hi I am Tanay Parikh, a senior at Monta Vista. My project is Optimizing Water and Fertilizer Usage using Drone Technology and Machine Learning. The impact I want to make is to be able to analyze a field to identify and predict specific areas of stress that need water and fertilizer to target specific areas instead of the entire field. Looking ahead, I see the potential to extend this approach to include additional sensors to further enhance sustainable agricultural practices.

Spreading Awareness About SAR Applications
Hi, my name is Hailey. My project revolves around a data science portion involving Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) and its astronomical and planetary geology-related applications. While that is the centerpiece of my project, the most forefront part of it is me creating a video series on YouTube to educate others on what can be done using the ever-evolving world of satellites and SAR.

Advocacy for Autoimmune Diseases
My name is Harshita Ravi and I am a junior in high school. I am passionate about spreading awareness about autoimmune diseases and I was inspired by my aunt who suffered from Alopecia, living in India. I started an awareness campaign in which I present to schools in underrepresented areas, such as India, partnering with the Lions Club to make this possible. I hope to present to more schools throughout my campaign and spread awareness about autoimmune diseases!

Creating a Poetry Writing Curriculum
Hi, my name is Giljoon and I am working to develop a curriculum to be adapted and used by MV Lit/Writ 9 teachers during the poetry unit. In the poetry unit in Lit/Writ 9, students learn to analyze poetry, but not how to write them—despite the fact that the final summative project involves students writing their own poems.

Neuroplasticity and Connections with Seniors
Hi! We are Luna Endo, Juyeon Kang, and Amanda Chen. A challenge we noticed is the difficulty of maintaining neuroplasticity, a person’s cognitive function, along with feeling disconnected from others. We are trying to address this issue by hosting events at senior centers that focus on interactive activities, such as art. By analyzing cognitive tests taken by the participants before and after each event, we hope to determine what measures are most effective in improving cognitive function and fostering emotional connections of residents.

Impact of Convenience Foods on Carbon Footprint
We’re Kirthana, a junior, and Shreya, a sophomore, researching how convenience foods impact our carbon footprint. Processed foods contribute significantly to emissions through production, packaging, and transportation. To help mitigate this, we’re holding workshops and have created an educational module for 8th graders, teaching them about the environmental costs of these foods and how to make sustainable choices. By promoting local, less-packaged alternatives and mindful consumption, we hope to inspire small, impactful changes. Our goal is to empower others with knowledge and practical steps to reduce their carbon footprint because every choice we make shapes the planet’s future.

Identifying Cancer Biomarkers in Gynecological Cancers Using ML
I'm Suhani, a junior in IRPD, and my project is about determining common epigenome regulators that are associated with multiple gynecological cancers which in turn can serve as potential pan-cancer biomarkers and drug discovery targets.
Climate Education Initiative
Hello, my name is Meera Bhaskar, and my project is about teaching the youth about climate change and making them more aware of this dire problem through a detailed curriculum and games.

Exhale Wellness
My name is Savir. "High school: exciting, yet challenging. Ease the transition for students with these vital seminars. These workshops equip students with evidence-based strategies to manage anxiety, depression, and stress—common yet often overlooked hurdles. Participants will learn practical tools to recognize and regulate emotions, handle academic and social pressures, and cultivate healthier, more resilient mindsets. This approach blends proven techniques with personal experience, empowering students not just to survive high school, but to thrive. This project aims to build a foundation of mental wellness that extends far beyond the classroom, impacting students' lives positively and permanently.
Impact of Music on Neurodivergent Students
Hi! I am Mahati Prayaga, a junior in IRPD. My project is about understanding how different music genres impact the heart rate and emotional states in neurodivergent students. Inspired by my experiences with someone close to me, I surveyed neurodivergent students and conducted interviews to get input for developing a prototype app that uses an Apple Watch to track heart rate and plays music based on the heart rate or reported emotion. My goal is to help neurodivergent teens focus, engage, and unlock their potential, enhancing their overall learning experience!

Accessing the Readiness and Perceptions of AI in Healthcare
Hello, I'm Trishia Khandelwal, a senior in IRPD. My project this year centers on understanding how AI is currently used in healthcare and identifying ways to make its adoption more practical and reliable, bridging the gap between technical development and practical implementation. I’m interviewing medical professionals and AI researchers to gain insight into AI’s effectiveness, challenges, and emerging advancements. Through this, I hope to shed light on key barriers to AI adoption and how they might be addressed.
Modeling Data to Enhance Mangrove Conservation
Our names are Samarth Kashyap and Anirud Sainarayanan. We are both sophomores. Mangrove conservation is the problem of scientists having to go into the field in person, which can be dangerous to the mangroves as the scientists are disturbing the habitat and it can be costly and inconvenient to travel to such remote places. However, our project has a solution. Our project is an AI machine learning model that can predict future outcomes and statistics of mangrove ecosystems. We are currently developing a prototype model to map the data.

Sustaineo: Optimizing Sustainable AI Workflows
Hey! I'm Aryan, and I'm currently a senior at Monta Vista. My project, Sustaineo, tackles the growing environmental impact of AI model training. By creating a dashboard that tracks carbon emissions and energy usage, along with a large language model (LLM) that provides optimization recommendations, I'm helping developers make their AI workflows more sustainable. Through techniques like mixed precision training and strategic region selection, we've seen energy savings of up to 40%. My goal is to make sustainability a key consideration in AI research and development as the industry continues to grow.
Smart Stretch
Hi my name is Sreevatsa Pervela and I am currently a junior at Monta Vista high school. Through my project, I hope to help athletes build good routines that can help them prevent injuries. I will be creating an app for student athletes that will recommend a routine plan of exercises and stretches. This app will provide personalized recommendations to address the players’ past injuries and format a plan around it to help them strengthen their muscles.

Sustainable Appliances
Hi, I’m Hursh and I’m working on an app to improve household sustainability through an often forgotten issue: inefficient appliances. According to the EPA, they can cost households up to $1,000 in utility bills yearly, and that’s why I’m creating Susfainify. This app allows you to take a picture of your appliances and get most cost-effective and sustainable alternatives in seconds and I hope to use it to revolutionise household sustainability.

Hi, my name is Subin. As a non-profit organization, Silicon Valley Open Academy's volunteer tutors help students struggling or seeking further help with mathematics and science.
Bananas For Books
Hello! My name is Dahlia Schilling and I am a senior. A challenge that elementary school students face is learning how to stay engaged while reading. Many 4th-grade students still greatly benefit from lessons with educators or guidance from parents while reading. However, outside the classroom, finding that support can be difficult. To address this, I have created Bananas for Books, which aims to make reading a more sociable activity for 4th graders by fostering a community and offering engaging lessons. I hope to create an fun environment for students to be a part of outside the classroom where all students go Bananas for Books!
Athletic Injury Awareness
Hello! My name is Chloe Chang, and my project aims to raise awareness regarding safe athletic practices and the seriousness of athletic injuries. Upon speaking with the MV Athletic Trainer, I was informed that there has been an increasing amount of athletes who visit the Athletic Trainer's office looking to relieve their pain. As student athletes, it is essential to maintain a healthy physique and look after ourselves in order to ensure that our athletic activities do not negatively impact our academics. I hope to see a positive change in athlete health as a result of my project.
